The Department of Medical Ethics & Health Policy is home to 15 primary- and over 25 affiliated- faculty members.  Several faculty members hold primary or secondary appointments in other departments within the Perelman School of Medicine or the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).  An interdiscplinary group, faculty members are trained in medicine, philosophy, anthropology, law, economics, and the history and sociology of science. 

Penn Fellows in Advanced Biomedical Ethics

The Department of Medical Ethics & Health Policy has launched the Penn Fellowship in Advanced Biomedical Ethics leading to the Master of Science in Medical Ethics (MSME). This two-year fellowship will be the premier training program for young scholars committed to pursuing academic careers in biomedical ethics.


The Administrative staff of the Department provide support to the faculty on an array of functions including departmental budgeting, grants management, project coordination, logistics, and hiring.
